Are Dermal Fillers Painful?

Dermal Fillers are injected beneath the skin, and as a quick procedure, treatment can be done during a typical lunch hour. Many of our HA fillers can also be mixed with lidocaine (a local anesthetic), making your procedure much more comfortable. We also offer a topical numbing cream to help with discomfort.

How many appointments will I need?

In many cases, a single appointment can produce the desired outcome, but some patients may require multiple appointments to optimize the results. During your initial consultation, our team will assess your specific needs and goals and develop a personalized treatment plan.

How long until I see results?

Our Boise and Eagle, ID patients can see their Dermal Filler results almost immediately after treatment, however, we like to remind our patients that there may be some initial swelling or bruising. As the swelling subsides, you will begin to see the full effects of the treatment. Please keep in mind that the filler will dissolve over time, so if you wish to maintain your aesthetic results, you will need to make a “maintenance” appointment approximately every six to ten months, depending on how your body reacts to the treatment.

Can I combine Dermal Fillers with other procedures?

Certainly! Dermal Fillers can be combined with other procedures to achieve more of your aesthetic goals and it is common for our patients to combine their Dermal Fillers with one of our many Laser Therapies or BOTOX . What to Expect on the Day of Dermal Filler Treatment

Dermal Fillers are simple, nonsurgical injectables with minimal recovery or downtime. This means you can get your treatment any time during the day and get back to your normal routine. Although every experience is a little different, you can generally expect the following when you visit Renu Medispa for treatment.

Depending on your individual needs, a provider will examine your fine lines, and wrinkles to determine the best course of treatment, which allows us to tailor your treatment to your unique needs. Photographs may also be taken to view before and after results.

Before treatment, a topical anesthetic may be used to help numb treatment areas. Next, the Dermal Filler will be injected under your skin to fill fine lines and wrinkles. As a quick and easy procedure, the entire process usually only takes 30-45 minutes.

Dermal Fillers Recovery

While there is minimal recovery or downtime after a Dermal Filler treatment, it’s important to avoid strenuous exercise, alcoholic beverages, aspirin, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen, fish oil, and other Omega 3 products for the first 24 hours. This helps to minimize any risks of unwanted side effects.

After treatment, some patients report temporary redness, swelling, bruising, and minimal pain. However, these side effects are very mild to moderate and usually clear up within a few days. If you experience any of these side effects, your cosmetic professional may recommend applying an ice pack for a brief period of time.
