Pre & Post Care ICON IPL & BBL-X

PRE LASER TREATMENT

  1. Use sunscreen daily. Sunburned skin cannot be treated!
  2. AVOID SUN ACTIVITY TWO WEEKS PRIOR to your appointment. This includes tanning beds.
  3. Avoid any irritants to the area(s) being treated, such as products containing Hydroquinone, bleaching creams, Retin-A, Retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, astringents or chemical peels for at least two weeks prior.
  4. Do not use self-tanning agents for at least two weeks before treatment.
  5. Avoid Ibuprofen, Advil, vitamin E, and fish oil for one week prior to the treatment.
  6. A clean, washed face is required before your treatment.
  7. Please inform us before each treatment if you are taking any antibiotics or other medications, as they may cause skin photosensitivity and we CANNOT treat.

POST LASER TREATMENT

  1. A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected. This usually lasts 2-24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours. Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, but it usually dissipates in 2-3 days. Apply ice or gel packs to the treated area(s) for 10-15 minutes every hour for the next four hours, as needed.
  2. Until redness is gone, it is recommended to avoid:
    • Applying cosmetics to treated areas.
    • Swimming, especially in pools with chemicals.
    • Hot tubs, Jacuzzis and Saunas.
    • Activities that cause excessive perspiration.
    • Sun exposure or tanning to treated areas. Apply a spf 30 or greater to prevent skin color changes.
    • Aggressive scrubbing and use of exfoliants on the treated area(s).
  3. Bathe or shower as usual. Treated areas may be temperature sensitive.
  4. If vascular lesions were treated, the vessels may undergo immediate graying or blanching or they may exhibit a slight purple or red color change. The vessels will fully or partially fade in about 10-14 days. Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs!
  5. If pigmented lesions were treated, the lesion(s) may initially look raised and/or darker with a reddened perimeter. The lesion will gradually turn darker over the next 24-48 hours. It may turn dark brown or even black. The lesion will progress to scabs and/or crusting and will start flaking off in an average of 7-21 days. Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs! The lesion is usually healed in 21-30 days. It will continue to fade over the next 6-8 weeks.
  6. If ARMS, BACK CHEST and/or LEGS were treated, it is very important to keep these areas hydrated until all pigment has sloughed off.
